Foster & Foster is an independent national actuarial consulting firm founded in 1979 by Ward and Eileen Foster.  In that first year, the firm had one consultant with revenues of $1,500.  Today we have offices from coast to coast and provide consulting and actuarial services to over 600 clients representing over 1 million participants.

In 2005, Brad Heinrichs came aboard Foster & Foster and became the President and CEO.  He has taken several steps to expand and diversify the business, which had previously focused solely on Florida public pension funds.  Below are a few of the highlights:

  • In 2006, became first firm in Florida to develop an online benefit calculator for clients to perform instantaneous benefit calculation estimates at their leisure
  • In 2006, expanded services to provide actuarial services to postretirement welfare programs
  • In 2008, the firm opened an office in Lincolnshire, IL to diversify our client base and service public pension funds in Illinois. Foster & Foster hired Jason Franken, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, to lead the practice
  • In 2010, Foster & Foster acquired R.N. Blomquist & Company, a consulting firm specializing in providing consulting services to Taft-Hartley health and welfare plans. Travis Smith joined Foster & Foster to lead this group through an office in a Chicago suburb
  • In 2012, Foster & Foster acquired SJ Actuarial, a sole proprietorship headed up by Shelley Johnson, who focuses on providing consulting services to the Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System (LASERS) and the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana (TRSL). This acquisition provided F&F an entrée into working for state retirement systems
  • In 2013, Foster & Foster opened a practice to provide pension administration to public pension funds.  Today, that practice has grown to represent over 10% of our annual revenue
  • In 2018, Foster & Foster acquired the Marsh Consulting Group in Paso Robles, California. This acquisition expanded Foster & Foster’s footprint out to the West Coast and provided an opportunity to work with faith-based organizations
  • In 2020, Foster & Foster acquired the Rodwan Company, a firm that provides actuarial consulting services to public pension and retiree welfare programs in Michigan
  • Additionally, Foster & Foster acquired the Beyer Barber Company, an actuarial consulting company in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which services Taft-Hartley, corporate, and public pension and health funds in the Northeast US
  • In the last five years, Foster & Foster has also opened offices in Alpharetta, Georgia (an Atlanta suburb) and Dallas, Texas, and have grown to over 90 consultants and actuaries
