Our Story
Foster & Foster was founded in 1979 by Ward and Eileen Foster with the objective to perform actuarial services to public pension plans in the State of Florida. Over the years they developed a successful practice that became one of the leading actuarial service providers for public pension plans in the state.
In 2005, Brad Heinrichs took the reigns as CEO as Ward and Eileen retired. Heinrichs left the corporate actuarial world where a majority of his time was spent focusing on non-qualified plans for C-suite executives.
Since the beginning, Foster & Foster has proudly stretched dollars as far as possible to protect and foster pension or health & welfare benefits for the hardworking people who serve and support our communities. We have always fought against anti-pension legislation and consistently warned the public of a retirement crisis that will exist if all the pensions go away.
To better serve the Foster & Foster clients, Brad has focused on diversifying service offerings, upgrading technology, expanding Foster & Foster’s geographical footprint, and becoming a national brand with hundreds of actuaries and consultants.
Today, Foster & Foster is a national, independent benefits consulting firm, specializing in providing innovative retirement and health & welfare consulting services to the public, corporate sector (small and large plans), and the Taft-Hartley markets. Additionally, we administer public pensions and perform cybersecurity audits for clients of all types. We have offices across the U.S. and nearly 200 actuaries and consultants. We are truly a national firm with a national brand of superior client service.
Our proud history is one of consistent organic growth, supplemented by several acquisitions that have diversified our client base, improved our talent pool, and increased our service offerings to our clients. Our retention rates are unparalleled in the industry, which has led to client relationships that have lasted for decades. Many of our employees have worked full careers here and retired with a pension from our very own pension plan that Foster & Foster provides its own employees.
With clients having as few as five or as many as 180,000 members, Foster & Foster is small enough to provide customized solutions and personal service to all clients yet is equipped with resources capable of servicing the largest plans in the country. Our mission is the same for all: Make each of our clients feel as if they are our only client!
Foster & Foster is organized as a Florida corporation with no parent companies, subsidiaries, or affiliated companies. Our home office is in Fort Myers, Florida with additional offices throughout the U.S. Our firm has been under its current ownership and management since 2005, and all owners are active employees in their respective subject-matter focus areas.
